(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really a full fledged game review as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a certain game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know whether it’s worth your time/money or not.)
Just before Halloween, a game called Zero Fun released on the App Store by indie developer, James Bolton. Some of you may know him. Well, I couldn’t pass up a chance to run his game through the ringer like I do every other game. It just wouldn’t be fair.
Zero Fun is a numbers game. Basically, you have a set number at the top of the screen and below it you have these circles that pop up that are all counting down from 10. You need to tap the circles before they hit zero (hence the name). The lower the number when you tap the circle, the higher the score. Sounds confusing right? Well, it’s actually pretty simple once you start playing.
What’s funny is that Zero Fun describes itself as a “zen like numbers game”. HA! It may be zen-like the first couple levels, but after that, the honeymoon is over! Zero Fun will stress you out more than your ex-girlfriend from high school! Every circle counts down at a different speed, so you’re constantly scanning your eyes over every circle, trying not to let one hit zero.
I would have liked to see some different themes to unlock other than the three that are there. It would have been cool to see different shapes other than just circles, but that’s just me. So, if you’re looking for a “zen-like” stress inducer, Zero Fun is actually Sometimes Fun!
