(SNAPP 5 [or “5NAPP” because it looks cool] is not a “best of” compilation, but more of a list of just five great games that have some kind of connection between them.)
I know I’ve said it already today, but, but, BUT, IT’S FRIDAY GLITCHES!!!!! Time to get nasty and play some video games!!
This week was definitely a weird one on the App Store. We had some really good games release, but hardly any were featured. Apple only added like 5 games this week. Very odd indeed. I’m REALLY surprised Apple didn’t do anything with Star Wars/May the 4th today either. The App Store is a mysterious place.
Anyway, how about we talk about 5 games that we’re diggidy digging (yea, I’m hip) here at SNAPP Headquarters?? Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the Weekly 5NAPP!!
I did a SNAPP Review on this one, so I won’t go into much detail. I’ll just say that if the games, PAKO and Faily Brakes had a one night stand one night after an evening of drinking and dancing and didn’t use protection, 9 months later, Brake To Die would be born.
AXE.IO is an axe throwing free-for-all. You play as a deadly knight (to start) up against 50 different players all armed with a single axe. You throw your axe, you must go and pick it back up or else you’re screwed. There are 16 different warrriors to unlock and several different game modes to keep things from getting stale. This one is a must have for action fans.
I absolutely love the original Ramboat game when it first launched. It’s actually still really fun. Ramboat 2 kind of “missed the boat” for me. Yea, it’s a great game and definitely worth picking up, but it doesn’t top the original. Maybe it’s the lack of an endless mode or that there’s less vehicles. I just was kind of let down a little. It’s still a fun F2P action/shooting game.
Here’s another one I did a SNAPP Review on this week, so I won’t get into too much detail again. I’ll just say that even though it has some clunky controls, the more and more I play Dungeon X Dungeon, the more I like it. It’s definitely worth picking up if your a fan of Metroidvania games. Just remember it’s not an easy game.
I loved the original Distraint when it first launched on the App Store. Destraint: Deluxe Edition is pretty much the same story, but with enhanced audio/visuals. Distraint is a side scrolling horror-novel style game wrapped in beautifully chunky pixel art. If you haven’t played Distraint yet, the Deluxe Edition is definitely the superior version to get. You can tell a lot of work went into the upgrade.
Alright. That’s about it for your Weekly 5NAPP! There were plenty other snuggets that released this week. You can always check them out in this week’s SNAPP Roundup.
Have a great weekend everyone! Keep on swiping!
