(SNAPP 5 [or “5NAPP” because it looks cool] is not a “best of” compilation, but more of a list of just five great games that have some kind of connection between them.)
Finally! The work week is just about over or already over for some. (Here comes the setup.) Do you know why that is? (and here it comes) Because IT’S FRIDAY GLITCHES!! Yes, the weekend is almost here. Time to do some naked squat thrusts and get our gaming on!
We had a hell of a week this week for new games! Quantity-wise, we averaged about the same. But, the quality was off the hizzey! (I just want you all to like me.) Remember. Quality ALWAYS beats quantity! (In many ways) I actually struggled trying to things narrow down to just 5 games.
I know I’ve never been big on doing a single “game of the year” or even a “game of the week”. I’ve always tried to give attention to as many games as possible. But, I’d like to at least give a special fist bump to one game every week in the Weekly 5NAPP. Call it GOTW if you will, but I just wanted to give a little extra nod to my favorite game every week. I also wanted to get your guy’s opinion on it. Anyway, let me know.
Alright. Enough babbling! Here’s this week’s SNAPP 5!!!!!
Sir Questionnaire is a unique little game by Orange Pixel. It’s a turn-based roguelike where you are trying to complete your codex. Normally, I’m not a huge fan of rogulikes, but this one has had me hooked. Each dungeon is procedurally generated, so the game never really gets stale. There are tons of quests, monsters, and loot to keep you playing also. I’m really enjoying this one so far.
Eden Obscure is kind of a mobile spinoff of PixelJunk Eden for consoles and PC. It’s a unique platformer game that mixes music and light together with……plants? I feel a little lost at times in the game, but it doesn’t really matter because it’s so damn fun to play regardless.
Pocket Run Pool is kind of the (in-between) perfect pool game for mobile. Usually you have two types of pool games on the App Store, straight up regular pool and uber-casual “just get the ball in the hole” arcade pool. Pocket Run Pool fits perfectly in between with an arcade feel to it, yet serious tournaments.
Animal Super Squad is a physics-based adventure/platformer. The game is fairly simple in terms of what it’s about. There’s not much of a story, it’s basically just get through each level anyway you can. The levels are absolutely genius and some of the community levels are straight up ridiculous! You can also unlock different animals, vehicles, and hats. This one definitely surprised me with how much fun it is.
Epic Skater 2 is a F2P skateboarding game. I played the hell out of the original when it first released. The developers over at YDF did an outstanding job on this one. They completely rebuilt the game from the ground, up. There’s more of everything this time, more moves, character customization, upgradable moves and gear, and even a level mode. Epic Skater 2 is honestly just a lot of fun to play. I can’t seem to put it down.
Ok. That’s about it for this week’s SNAPP 5. There’s still a bunch more great games that released this week and quite a few that I haven’t even gotten to yet. If I end up finding any hidden snuggets, I’ll definitely make sure to let you guys know. You can also check out all of this week’s releases in the SNAPP Roundup.
Have a great weekend everyone and remember to keep on swiping!!
