(SNAPP 5 [or “5NAPP” because it looks cool] is not a “best of” compilation, but more of a list of just five great games that have some kind of connection between them.)
Whew! It was a short week with the (U.S.) holiday, but it was a cray-cray one! Thankfully it’s finally over. You know what the hell that means………(I’m sorry, I’ve gotta say it.) IT’S FRIDAY GLITCHES!! It’s hot out, so time to slap on the red SNAPPZILLA banana hammock and get out gaming on!!
We had one hell of a week for new mobile games. I actually expected it to be somewhat quiet with the holiday on Monday, but the App Store always seems to surprise me. Just about everyday we had a big chunk of games come it. You can of course, check out the whole shabang on the SNAPP Roundup.
I haven’t gotten to EVERY game that released this week, but here’s five games you definitely can’t go wrong with. This is the Weekly 5NAPP…….
I did a SNAPP Review on this one earlier this week, so I won’t get into too much detail. BalzeFury is an absolutely beautiful SHMUP with a slick control scheme. There are tons of ships/weapons/power-ups to unlock and upgrade and a bunch of missions/levels to keep you coming back for more. This is a “must-have” for action and shooter fans.
Feist is a really cool action platformer where you play as a furball creature that’s trying to save his mate from the enemy……umm, furball creatures. The shadowy Limbo-style visuals are what makes the game stand out at first, but the clever puzzles and platforming are what keep you coming back and buying that juicy full-game unlock IAP.
Here’s another one I did a SNAPP Review on, so again I won’t get into too much detail. Desert Island Fishing is an arcade fishing game with a surprising about of depth. It’s all about catching and collecting with a bit of upgrading. The game is F2P, so you’ll have to deal with a bit of ads here and there.
Space Pioneer is a dual stick shooter/exploration game. You play as a bounty hunter learning skills, taking on missions, and fighting hordes of aliens. It’s got a unique art style that sets the game apart from others in the genre. There’s tons of weapons to unlock and upgrade and several planets to explore. There’s actually quite a bit of content packed into this gem.
And here’s yet another one I did a SNAPP Review on. BalanCity is a really unique mashup of a balancing/physics game and a sim building game. Yes, you read that right. The sim part of the game is fairly deep. You have to manage population, workforce, pollution, etc., all while balancing on a pedestal. It’s something I’ve never seen before and definitely worth checking out.
That’s about it for this week’s SNAPP 5. Like I said, there’s several games that I haven’t even gotten to yet and a bunch that could have easily made this article. For the whole list, make sure to check out this week’s (iPod themed) SNAPP Roundup.
Have a great weekend everyone and if you can, remember to support the hell out of us!! We NEED the funds!!
