(SNAPP 5 [or “5NAPP” because it looks cool] is not a “best of” compilation, but more of a list of just five great mobile games that have some kind of connection between them.)

Looks like we’ve made it through another release week everyone! Yes, you know what day it is. IT’S FRIDAY GLITCHES!! Time to break out the ball gag and leather whip and play some vidya games!!

We had a pretty stealthy week for new releases. At first glance, things didn’t look too out of the ordinary. A lot of casual F2P games like usual. But, the more games that I started playing, the more they turned out to be gems. This happens more often than you’d think. I think the moral to this story is that you can’t judge a book by its cover……or a game by its screenshots? Yea, I’m rambling…..

Anyway. I actually had to narrow things down this week, but here’s this week’s SNAPP 5!!

Almost every time Nitrome releases a game, it’s going to be on my list. Nitrome has a swagger to them. Yes, I used the word “swagger”. Colorblind doesn’t disappoint either. You play as a right eyeball that had the love of his life, the left eye stolen from him. It’s a really cute platformer that plays off of colors. It can be hard at times, but still worth checking out.

Ava Airborne is one of those games that surprised me this week. I wasn’t expecting it to be as good as it is. At its core, Ava Airborne is one of those “get as far as you can get” flying games. Think Burrito Bison. But, there is so much more going on behind the scenes. There are tons of things to collect and upgrade. My only issue is that it’s a little tough on collecting coins. It’s not impossible though. Definitely give this one a good 20 minutes or so of playtime before you judge it. It opens up a little later than most games.

Original Journey

I was surprised this one didn’t get a feature this week. Original Journey is an absolutely beautiful shooter/RPG about a mysterious planet called, Planet Shadow. The story goes fairly deep, but what sets this game apart are the visuals and art style. There are some really memorable levels and characters in this game. Original Journey can be a little grindy for some, but it’s still worth it in my opinion.

Tetrun Parkour Simulator

Another hidden gem this week. Tetrun is an arcade-y game about parkour. It’s got a unique swipe-based control scheme and some really cool low-poly visuals. There are a bunch of different moves to unlock and you can even change the look of your character. I’ve been having a lot of fun with this one.

Skidz

Genre: Games, Arcade, Racing
Language: Danish, Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Chinese, Spanish, Swedish, Chinese, Turkish
Price: free
Version: 1.0.6

Skidz is a simple arcade racing game with easy controls. All you have to do is just follow the track. There are several vehicles to unlock and over a hundred levels. There aren’t a bunch of bells and whistles in Skidz, but it makes up for it in just good old fashioned fun.

Alrighty then. That’s about it for this week’s SNAPP 5. There are a ton of other great games this week. Like I said, it was tough narrowing it down. So, make sure to check out this week’s SNAPP Roundup for the full list!!
