SNAPPshot: Tuesday September 12, 2017
(SNAPPshot is a daily blog-like news piece about the mobile gaming industry. A “snapshot” of the past 24 hours if you will. It’s basically an excuse for Noen to ramble on about anything and everything that has to do with nothing.)
Goooooood flipping morning/afternoon/evening SNAPP Family!! Yes, it’s that time again. Time to pour a cup of coffee and see what the hell has been going on the past 24 hours.
Speculation, speculation, speculation. That’s what’s going on right now. Yes, the Apple Event is going on today at 10AM PDT. It’s all over social media right now. I touched on it yesterday and I’m sure I’ll be talking about it tomorrow, so I’ll try and keep my handsome mouth shut about it today.
Luckily, there were a few bits of non-Apple Event news yesterday…….
With iOS 11 around the corner, we are looking to lose a LOT of classic games on the App Store. It’s unbelievable how big the App Store is until you start feverishly looking for older games to save. But, every so often, you see an older game pop up on your updates list. Yesterday it was, Slam Dunk King by PikPok. A game I completely forgot about. Well, luckily it’s ready for iOS 11 now and I’ve been absolutely hooked again since.
In other news (I love saying that!)……..
Developer, Rayark (Implosion) soft launched their next game, Sdorica-Sunset on the NZ and AU App Store (that I know of). It’s not another shooter unfortunately, but it’s a pretty cool puzzle RPG so far. I wasn’t super excited at first glance, but after playing for a few, it’s pretty damn cool!
Speaking of puzzles, Final Fantasy came back to Puzzle & Dragons yesterday for a limited time. So, honestly. Is this really the FINAL Fantasy?? Yea, that just happened.
Shooty Skies just received a rainbow-themed update to support marriage equality. I haven’t tried it yet, but apparently it’s to promote voting YES in Australia for gay marriage.
We did have a couple game releases yesterday, but not much. The old Crescent Moon game, Leave Me Alone re-released under the name, Lisa Voronova. 111% released TO:WAR, and FarSight Studios released Pinball Cadet which isn’t a bad pinball game. It just needs a little something more in my opinion. I’ll have everything in this week’s SNAPP Roundup or if you can’t wait, check out @SNAPPReleases on the old Twitter.
Alright. That’s it for your SNAPPshot of Monday! Stay safe all the SNAPP Family effected by the hurricane/s and remember to keep on swiping………..
