SNAPPshot: September 19, 2017
(SNAPPshot is a daily blog-like news piece about the mobile gaming industry. A “snapshot” of the past 24 hours if you will. It’s basically an excuse for Noen to ramble on about anything and everything that has to do with nothing.)
Goooooood morning/afternoon/evening SNAPP Family!! Time to pour a cup of coffee and see what the hell has been going on the past few days.
First off, I just wanted to apologize for not getting the SNAPP Roundup out last week. We are having issues with one of the plug-ins that create those boxes with the link and info. I’m sure you’ve noticed the past week or so with some of the boxes reading “The App was not found in the store”. The link itself still works, but the app icon and title doesn’t appear. Sometimes the boxes work, sometimes they take a couple hours to download all the info (especially for the Roundups!), and sometimes they don’t work at all. I know there are a ton of other sites for you to go to out there, so I do my best to make sure you guys are getting quality content. Not to mention that it’s embarrassing. I take a lot of pride in what I do here at SNAPPZILLA. So, hopefully we’ll have a fix early this week.
Next thing before I get to the news. I may actually do an article on this issue alone, but figured I’d give you a quick heads-up here anyway. SNAPPZILLA needs your help. We need every bit of help we can get right now. Whether it be a donation, a shoutout, a retweet, anything! With James taking time off to raise his new child, it just leaves me here. So, I’ve had to cut back on promoting the site so I can focus on content. So, I’m going to the SNAPP Family for some help.
Alright, now onto the news……
It’s been a few days, so I’ll just narrow things down a little to keep things short.
First off, “Mad Scientist” Colin Lane tweeted out a teaser yesterday saying, “guess what comes out next week?” Turns out that it’s the sequel to Dunkers!! The game is actually a collaboration with Playback Studios and from the looks of the trailer, it’s every bit as awesome as the first Dunkers and then some! We’ll let you know as soon as the game releases.
Another great tweet yesterday was coming out of the Mooff Games camp. They don’t use social media often, so it’s always a surprise to hear from them. Yesterday they tweeted out an update on Blackmoor 2 and the game looks like it’s coming along nicely. I reached out to them this morning to see how far along they are on the game, so I’ll let you know when I find out.
Another big thing to happen is the classic game, Solomon’s Keep has gotten the iOS 11 update! This was one game that I was really worried about. Raptisoft posted in their forums that Solomon’s Graveyard is next. It may be pulled for a few, but rest assured, it’ll be back. Both games will be ported to Android sometime this year.
Hondune Games posted over the weekend that their recently released Recharge RC had between 7K and 8K downloads from “illegitimate sources” and the game is free! He went on to say that iOS was of course doing better. This is the one thing that keeps me from adding Android gaming. There’s just so much pirating.
We had some content updates over the weekend…..
Zombie Gunship Survival received a new “Frenzy” game mode, new heavy cannons, a new campaign called, Sierra Township, 5 new type of crates, and new “Live Events”.
Rodeo Stampede received 24 new animals and 3 new Mount Olympus areas.
PKTBALL added “Protour Mode”, new characters, and of course, bug fixes.
Last but not least, True Skate received a new “SLS 2017 Chicago” course.
Alright. That’s it for today’s SNAPPshot. I may start publishing these every other day instead of daily. I’m still on the fence. I’ve been really over-working myself lately, so I’m just trying to find the right balance. Any feedback would be helpful. Keep it stiff everyone and remember to keep on swiping…….
