(SNAPP 5 [or “5NAPP” because it looks cool] is not a “best of” compilation, but more of a list of just five great games that have some kind of connection between them.)
Happy Groundhog Day SNAPP Family! We made it through the work week. Yes, I’ve gotta say it again. IT’S FRIDAY GLITCHES!! Time to rub honey on our thighs and play some games! (It’s the ONLY way to play!)
The past couple weeks have actually been really good for games on the App Store! And I’ve got to give credit to Apple. They actually featured quite a few indie games on the main page and not just in the indie games section. So, kudos to the developers that got the nod from Apple. It’s always great seeing indies in the mainstream.
So, what games have I been digging this week at SNAPP Headquarters? (Yes, the new home office is finished. So I’m allowed to call it SNAPP HQ ok!) There were honestly so many gems this week. I haven’t even been able to get to them all yet. But here’s 5 games that really shouldn’t be missed this weekend.
PAKO 2 is the sequel to the car chasing indie hit, PAKO (of course). The object of the game is to pull heists and run from the cops in an open-world environment for as long as you can before your inevitable demise. Tree Men upped the ante on just about everything in this game. The visuals are better, there are more vehicles, the environments are larger, and the physics are top notch. I really can’t stop playing this one.
Unicycle Hero is an arcade Olympic style game where you are playing all the matches on……..get this, a unicycle! (Bet you didn’t see that coming!) This game had me laughing out loud the first time I played it. It’s just plain stupid fun.
Avicii is a rhythm tunnel runner of sorts where you control a spaceship and how you play the game affects how the music is played out. It’s got a really cool Vector style to is and tons to unlock. The only downside is hearing the same song over and over and over before you finally start to unlock more music.
Headshot ZD is a pixel art survival game where you play as a group of .1% survivors of the Great Smog Apocalypse. It’s actually a pretty tough game. You have to ration your food and water that is constantly dwindling, strengthen your barricade that’s constantly losing strength, find survivors, upgrade weapons, cure diseases. The fighting is all in real-time, which was the selling point for me. It’s got a lot of F2P aspects to it, but it’s not horribly bad.
I didn’t expect to like Landslide Ninja as much as I do. It’s honestly just another endless climber. There are tons on the App Store. What’s unique about this one is that you earn EXP while playing and leveling up grants you different belts and abilities. There are different costumes to unlock, but it’s almost impossible to collect enough currency for any of them without playing for hours or purchasing IAP. Sure, were are a lot bigger/better games that released this week, but Landslide Ninja surprised me enough to earn a mention.
Well, that’s your SNAPP 5 for the week. You can of course check out the rest of this week’s releases on the SNAPP Roundup. Have a great weekend everyone! Keep on swiping……
