(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really a full fledged game review as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a certain game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know whether it’s worth your time/money or not.)
EXAELLA is an absolutely beautiful looking 3D side-scroller where you play a Chief Operator that just woke up from artificial sleep in a new world and has to find her way around the dark corridors of “Xonasu”. The controls are a bit stiff and the buttons are a little small on the iPhone, but they get the job done. I will say that the game very slow. Be expected to do a lot of wandering around and exploring. Once I finally started facing a few enemies, it felt near impossible to kill them without using all my ammo and rations. Even with these issues, I still haven’t dismissed EXAELLA. I still feel like there’s a lot more waiting to be found. But, if you’re looking for a “shooter” game, you might want to hold off on this one. If you enjoy sci-fi stories and a slower paced exploration/puzzle style of game, you may enjoy this one.
EXAELLA is also in this week’s SNAPP Roundup.
