(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really a full fledged game review as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a certain game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know whether it’s worth your time/money or not.)
It’s Thursday again. That means dozens of games (hundreds if you count clones/cash-grabs) flooding the App Store all around the same time. One of the games that released was Dungeon X Dungeon (by Play-One Inc).
Dungeon X Dungeon is a 2-D pixel art side scrolling action/adventure game. Some call them “Metroidvania” games. You play as a treasure hunter named, Luke who is trying to prevent the resurrection of the “Great Evil”. It’s honestly the usual “good vs evil” story that’s in a lot of games. Some of it gets a bit boring, but it’s not a horrible story by any means.
Where Dungeon X Dungeon really excels is gameplay. The levels are creative and unique. There’s a variety of gameplay styles which keeps things from getting too monotonous. Things start off with simple hacking and slashing, but things pick up later on when you start upgrading weapons/gear, and learning spells.
So far, I’ve been really liking Dungeon X Dungeon. It’s definitely not perfect. The controls work well, but are a bit clunky. This makes things frustrating when trying to jump on small platforms or hanging vines. Even with that, Dungeon X Dungeon is still a great game.
As always, you can check out Dungeon X Dungeon and the rest of this week’s new releases on the SNAPP Roundup.
