(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really a full fledged game review as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a certain game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know whether it’s worth your time/money or not.)
It has been a crazy start to the week already. There’s been a bunch of great games that have popped up on the App Store. One game that just launched today is BlazeFury (by RadPirates).
BlazeFury is a side scrolling SHMUP there is only one object and one object alone and that is to destroy everything in your path. What’s cool is that BlazeFury isn’t like traditional SHMUPS where you control the ship while it auto-fires. In this game, you control the weapons……
Everything BlazeFury is done fluidly and with a single swipe or “trace”. When enemies approach you, you trace your finger over the enemies to aim your weapons at them. This slows down time a bit so things don’t get too hectic. Once you lift your finger, time speeds back up and your weapons fire. Those of you who have been playing mobile games for awhile may remember a game called J.A.M. that used a similar play-style.
I’ve barely scratched the surface of this game, but I’m already in love with it. The voxel art visuals run at a smooth 60 FPS and look absolutely stunning when blowing up ships. There’s also tons of upgradable ship and weapons to unlock. You can tell a lot of love went into the making of this gem. If you’re a fan of shooters or action games, BlazeFury needs to be on your device now!
