(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really a full fledged mobile game review as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a certain game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know whether it’s worth your time/money or not.)
With so many games releasing on the App Store the past few days, I wanted to bring attention to a new game that really surprised me this week. The game is called, BalanCity by indie developer, Giant Monkey Robot.
BalanCity is a mashup of a city builder and a physics-based balancing game. Yea, I know. It’s a strange mashup for sure. The screenshots do not do this game justice. At first glance, I thought it was just another physics-based game.
The object of BalanCity is create a thriving city on top of a platform that’s balancing a pedestal. This isn’t just stacking things though. You actually are building homes, creating jobs for people by building offices, managing your power, fighting fires, stopping crime, and a ton more. It’s honestly like a full fledged sim building game!
While you’re worried about managing your mini city, you’ll also need to balance it out so it doesn’t tip over. This can get really tricky at times. You may need something big and heavy like a power station, but only have room on one side. It’s your job to balance things out with something heavy on the other side. You’ll even be dealing with things like pollution and planting enough trees to clean up the air.
There’s so much more this 119 MB snugget has to offer. The more that I play, the more I love this game. It has completely surprised me with how deep it is. Even if you’re not a fan of simulation games, BalanCity is definitely worth checking out.
