(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really a full fledged game review as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a certain game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know whether it’s worth your time/money or not.)

Alright. So, a game called, The Muscle Hustle (by Foxgloves Studios) just released on the App Store yesterday with very little hype. Actually, the game had more hype prior to release than the actual launch. Anyway, I’ve had a chance to dig into it and figured I’d give you a quick SNAPP Review.

The Muscle Hustle calls itself, “a mashup of wrestling and pool” and I suppose that could describe it. Basically it’s a slingshot style game where you are snapping, bouncing, and shooting your characters towards each other. The mechanics itself aren’t really new to the platform. But, what this game does have is character. From the start of the game, you will notice the artwork and overall theme of the game has had a lot of love poured into it. You can tell that the team who built the game were wrestling fans themselves or at least did a lot of homework on the sport. There are different stories, characters, bosses, matches, you name it.

As far as my 2 cents on the game, I’ve been having a pretty good time playing. There is a TON of content packed into this 420 MB package. Hundreds of single player campaign levels, PVP, training, upgrading, etc. I will say that I originally didn’t think that I’d like the game. I just don’t care for the whole “coin” look of the characters. I kind of wish that they were somehow bull-body characters instead of just circles. But, I got over that fairly quick once I started beefing up my wrestlers and seeing everything this game has to offer. Of course, it’s F2P, so there are tons of things to spend real money on, but so far, I haven’t felt any need to buy any IAPs or hit any kind of paywall.

If you’re a fan of classic wrestling or just want a fairly deep game with pretty simple gameplay, The Muscle Hustle just might be the game you’re looking for.
