iTunes SCAM ALERT!
Just a quick PSA or SFSA (SNAPP Family Service Announcement).
Just a heads up…..
It looks like there’s a scam going on right now with especially new iPhone users. My wife just recently left Android and moved over to iOS, so she’s been setting everything up and getting emails that she’s not used to. Well, tonight she got an email from “Apple” stating that her iTunes account had been frozen due to “suspicious activity” and that she needed to enter her iTunes account info to start her account back up. The email claims that a $399.98 IAP was purchased for a game called, BINGO LIVE and even shows an invoice. If you click on the link given in the email, it will bring you to a website that looks VERY similar to Apple’s website. So, it’s easy to mistake. Anyone who has dealt with Apple for awhile will notice the difference in the invoice, but for new users, it’s pretty convincing.
With the holiday season coming up, I’m sure some of you will have family and friends getting new devices. So, make sure to keep an eye out for this one. I’m sure this isn’t the only scam out there. And I have no clue what happens if someone does fall for this. Luckily, we caught onto it fairly quick. I’ll leave some screenshots of what was emailed to her.
Keep it stiff everyone!
