(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really a full fledged game review as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a certain game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know whether it’s worth your time/money or not.)

So, earlier today a game released that looked really interesting compared to some of the other games that I was finding. It’s called, Future Runner Escape (by Hand Creative Studio)

Future Runner Escape is a “premium” game ($0.99 USD) on the App Store and after looking at the screenshots and app description, I decided to take the dollar plunge.

The year is 2049 and under the “Dome Cities”, dictators proved everyone with their dreams in virtual reality. The only catch is that life ends at 21 for the people. There is a voluntary sacrificial ceremony called the “Last Day” where everyone’s dream ends. The Last Day is a chance for people to escape the dome and get back to reality where they can live out a full life. These people are called Future Runners.

You control one of these brave volunteers on the Last Day and your job is to run……..and run you shall do. You will run a LOT in this game! (Did I mention that there is some mild running?) You do this by alternating taps on the left and right side of the screen. Kind of like the old Track & Field games on the original NES. Just L, R, L, R, L, R, L, R, L, R, L, R, L, R and so on. You get the idea.

That’s pretty much it! There is absolutely nothing else to do in the game. It all boils down to your own stamina. How long your thumbs can last before cramping up. There are no breaks, no pause buttons, just tapping left to right, left to right. One slip-up or if you slow down any, it’s GAME OVER. There are 30 different “zones” which is just a fancy term for changes in scenery in the background, but you won’t notice any of that with the sheer pain going through your hands. The app description says that there is over 40 minutes of continuous gameplay. That’s 40+ minutes of non-stop left and right tapping. This game is purely for the hardcore. I mean, I consider myself pretty hardcore and I gave up after maybe 4 minutes? I guess I could have could lied and said that I made it to at least 10 minutes, but no way. I was sweating after the first few minutes. My delicate hands are struggling just typing this review after all of that!

Anyway, Future Runner Escape is out now on the App Store. It’s not a horrible game at all. The pixel art is done well and the controls seem to work fine. It’s just not for me. I’m too old and handsome to be tapping for that long. I could see some hardcore people digging it just to brag to their friends that they lasted so many minutes. So, if you’re wanting to prove yourself, click the link below. Don’t say I didn’t warn ya!

The app was not found in the store. 🙁
