(Coffee & Swiping is a news-y/blogg-y article about the mobile gaming industry and everything in between. It’s basically an excuse for Noen to ramble on about anything and everything that has to do with nothing.)
Wow. What the hell! It feels like it’s been forever since I’ve even able to bullshit over coffee. I know that I’ve had quite a few people ask where Coffee & Swiping has been lately. Let’s see. It looks like the last time was on February 28th. So, it’s been awhile. I guess that’s a good thing though. It means that I’ve been busy. 2018 has been ridonkulous for SNAPPZILLA. It seems to be getting busier and busier as every week passes. Like I’ve said before, eventually I’d like to move C&S over to YouTube or even a podcast. It would be a lot easier and I’m sure you guys would rather listen/watch, rather than read a long ass article about nothing.
Anyway, pour yourself a cup of coffee, slip into something a little more comfortable, and meet me over on the bear skin rug………
Hopefully everyone has been doing well. As for myself, let’s see. Well, like I said already, things have been really crazy pretty much this whole first quarter. With the exception of my family, SNAPPZILLA has been my life. It’s pretty much a round-the-clock job now. The site has really been gaining momentum lately! We were quoted in a screenshot and trailer for a featured game on the front page of the App Store last month. That was really cool seeing our name next to Pocket Gamer and TouchArcade. Our readership has still been going up at a steady clip, we’ve added SWITCHzilla to the site, the new and improved SNAPP Roundup has been fairly bug-free. To be honest, things are going really well!!
The only downside is of course, ad-blockers are still killing any revenue we could be getting from ads. It’s definitely frustrating seeing readership go up and ad revenue stay the same. In case you didn’t know, we now have a Patreon to help us out. Even a buck a month would really help out. I’d like to keep doing this as and eventually hire some new writers, but of course, that costs moolah. Anyway, the Patreon link at the bottom of the page and single donations always work too.
Alright. Enough about me. Let’s see what else has been going on lately…….
Well, if you haven’t heard, “Mad Scientist”, Colin Lane is at is again with a new game. This time he’s teamed up with indie dev, Brad Erkkila to create Rowdy Wrestling. I haven’t had a chance to play it yet, but from the looks of it, it looks like another one of those crazy physics-based games that he’s known for. No word yet on a release date, but I’m sure we’ll find out soon.
Speaking of Brad Erkkila. He’s actually been really busy lately. He’s got another game he’s working on called, Castle Pals. This one looks to be a really cool pixel art platformer. This one should be released at the end of next month. June 28th to be exact.
Indie developer, Chin Yong Kian looks like he’s getting closer to finishing up his newest game, Serious Scramblers. I’ve been playing it for awhile and it’s really fun. No release date yet, but it’s gotta be soon. I’ve been playing it for a little while and it “feels” done to me. But, what do I know?
There’s honestly so much gaming news this week. KoriGame has a new one in TestFlight right now that’s really good, Ram from Jambav Games has a cool game called, Super Speed Runner in TestFlight, Crescent Moon just announced a teaser that they are publishing a new pixel art game. I don’t think I can say what it is just yet. Eageron announced that they have a new one called Pocket Invader that’s in the works. The list goes on.
I think I’ll cut things off here. There’s still a lot to talk about. Hell, I haven’t even gotten to the recent content updates! I just hate making these articles so long. Maybe I’ll do another C&S this week. Anyway, that’s my rambling for the morning. Have a great week everyone and keep on swiping!!
(Special thanks to Laszlo for still doing sketches for C&S!)
