(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really a full-fledged iOS game review as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a mobile game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know whether or not it’s worth your time/money.)
Save Matt is a story-driven sci-fi arcade game by the indie team at Green Snow Games. A strange accident happens in outer space during a mission to colonize Planet 44. On board the crashed ship was Captain Matt and 49 other passengers. Your job is to help rescue all of them and find out what happened with Matt. The game itself has you steering throughout asteroid belt and numerous other obstacles in order to save the scattered passengers and make it to the rescue ship before time runs out. What’s unique is that every character has their own story to tell. So, as you pass each level, you learn a little more about the accident and the person you just saved. The other thing I liked is the visuals. It has that old 70’s/80’s sci-fi look to it. The whole game has a really cool feel to it. I will say that some of the levels can be tough and frustrating. I’ve found myself stuck quite a few times. Luckily, there’s no timers or anything to hold you up. There are a few IAPs, but they are just for an ad removal, a “save mode”, and extra blasters. Blasters are used to blast asteroids to help pass levels. I’m not 100% sure on how many levels there are. The story leads you to believe that there are 50 people, so that would mean roughly 50 levels. But, I’ve seen well over 600 levels in the progress screen. Regardless, Save Matt is a unique game with a really good story so far. I definitely recommend checking it out.
