(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really a full-fledged iOS game review as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a mobile game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know whether it’s worth your time/money or not.)
Sun Wukong Vs Robots is a mini Metroidvania game by indie developer, Yongbin Yu. You play as Wukong, a soldier that was in a coma for 500 years and wakes up with a “Mind Locker” on his head. To unlock the Mind Locker, you need to release 4 gems from it. There are 4 bosses in the game, each holding a way to release a gem. (I think that’s how the story goes. The translation isn’t the greatest.) Sun Wukong Vs Robots is a pretty solid game. The characters are pretty cool, the level design is well done, and the controls do their job. I will say that the game feels squished. The control panel takes up almost half the screen and there’s about ¾ of an inch of nothing below the panel on the 8 Plus. So that only leaves a small part of the screen for the game. (Side Note: If you try switching to landscape mode, the game with shrink to about 2 inches until you close it out the app.) Sun Wukong Vs Robots has its problems, but it’s still a fun little game that’s worth the buck. As long as you don’t mind the small screen.
