(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really a full-fledged iOS game review as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a mobile game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know whether it’s worth your time/money or not.)
Last Line Of Retreat is a pixel art endless……dropper(?), where you play as a foot soldier on the “scorched battlefield from hell”. He’s being chased by enemy bombers flying overhead and has no way to run but down. You make your way through endless floors filled with enemy soldiers, exploding barrels, traps, and just about any obstacle that will trip you up. The controls are a bit clunky at first. I was having issues when I lifted my thumb and the v-stick not registering when I put my thumb back down. Luckily, there are all kinds of options to change things up. Once I found the right combination, controls weren’t an issue. You can earn experience, collect power-ups, and buy/upgrade “buddies” that will follow alongside you each run. Last Line Of Retreat isn’t really bringing anything new to the endless genre, but it’s still pretty fun and worth checking out.
Last Line Of Retreat is also in this week’s (spooky) SNAPP Roundup!
