(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really a full-fledged iOS game review as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a mobile game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know whether it’s worth your time/money or not.)
True Surf is True Axis’s next game in the “True” series. Their first game, True Skate was and still is my favorite skateboarding game on the App Store, so there’s was a lot to live up to. True Surf is honestly the best surfing game I’ve played on mobile. It has 21 different surf breaks from around the world, real-time forecasts, upgradable boards and characters. I will say that the game can be a bit TOO realistic for some. It’s not going to be full of action and tricks. It’s all about finding that perfect wave and making the most of it. The game really opens up once you get up to level 4. My only real gripe is the “Frequent Flyer” subscription system. It’s only 2.99 a month, but I’m really not a fan of any kind of subscription in gaming. I’d rather pay up front and be done or even IAPs for new areas like in True Skate. But, that’s more of a personal preference. Regardless, True Surf is an absolutely beautiful game and should be on every surf/skate fan’s device right now.
True Surf is also in this week’s SNAPP Roundup!
