(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really a full fledged game review as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a certain game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know whether it’s worth your time/money or not.)

I’ve never been a huge fan of clicker/idle games on the App Store. There’s been a few that have hooked me for a little while, but most usually get fairly old after a few minutes of tapping. When it comes to “idle games” where you’re simply just watching a game play itself, I usually don’t last much longer than a minute or two before I start getting bored. Regardless of what kind of game it is, I still try everything out before I dismiss it entirely.

That brings me to Semi Heroes……

As usual, I expected to play a few minutes and start getting bored. That was over a week ago and I’m still playing around with it.

Semi Heroes is your typical Idle RPG. Your “heroes” fight on their own and you spend most of your time clicking their special abilities and upgrading. What’s a little different about this game is that is kind of an endless defense game also. In every level, you try to take over the enemies “Tree of Life” while they are doing the same. It’s fairly easy the first dozen levels or so, but once you start getting to the later levels, you find yourself on the defensive a lot.

Like I said, Semi Heroes is pretty similar to other games in the genre. It has all the usual upgrading, starting over, upgrading all over again process. There’s definitely a lot of grinding involved. (Most of these type of games are like that though.) But, for some reason, this game clicked with me. (Pun intended) The characters are charming and the gameplay is actually pretty fun. If you’re a fan of these type of games, Semi Heroes is definitely worth checking out.
