Most of you know this by now, but I’ve been a pretty dedicated gamer for the most part of my life. I mainly played console/handheld games all the way up until around 2010-2011 when the App Store opened up. From then on, I’ve always considered mobile gaming just as important as console, handheld, and PC. Now, I know there are a lot of people out there that don’t think mobile gaming is relevant. It was honestly like this back in the day when handhelds got big. There’s always going to be people out there hating on the next big thing. Now, I know F2P (free to play) games have changed the industry up quite a bit, but I still feel just as passionate about mobile as I did 7-8 years ago.
Well, it got me thinking how big the mobile gaming industry actually is. How do I figure that out? Do I even want to even do all that work? Then I ran across an infographic by Tim Meyer of mrgamez.com. They did all the work themselves and the number are ridiculous! They did an awesome job, so I figured I’d share it with you guys.
(You can also check it out here.)
Anyway. I just thought the numbers were interesting. I know most of these games mentioned are the highly popular ones that we don’t cover much here at SNAPPZILLA. My concern is how popular the industry actually is. Our mission at SNAPPZILLA is to show everyone that the industry is more then just a handful of games and a bunch of clones. I think we’ve done a hell of a job so far and we’ll do our best to keep fighting the good fight.
