****bleep****bleep****Looks like we have another one popping up on the SNAPP Radar****bleep****bloop****radar sounds****
So, the past day or so, I’ve been playing the hell out of a game called, Hot Slide that’s currently in soft launch in the App Store.
Hot Slide is a racing game by a 3-man development team called, Tapcheer. This is the first I’ve heard of these guys and this seems to be their only game on the App Store. But, I’ve gotta say, I’m impressed so far!
As I said, Hot Slide is a racing game. It’s a racing game with a big emphasis on drifting. What’s cool about this game is that it plays in portrait mode and is controlled with just your thumb.
We’ve played games like this with the “Smash” series by Hutch Games and I’ve always dug this control scheme. Especially in mobile racing games. That’s pretty much the only area where the two games compare. Hot Slide is it’s own unique racing game.
First thing you will notice is it’s beautiful visuals. It looks to be a mixture of voxel art and hi-res. Even the UI is well done. There’s also quite a bit of content packed into the game. Over 20 different vehicles ranging from muscle cars, street, off-road, to supercars. Each vehicle handles its own unique way on the track and can also be upgraded. There’s also several different styles of tracks with weather effect, short cuts, and more.
So far, I’ve been really digging Hot Slide. It’s of course, “free to play”, so there’s going to be your usual F2P mechanics involved. But, so far, it hasn’t been too bad at all. I haven’t come across any pop-up ads and you can race pretty much as much as you want. With the game still being in soft launch, I’m sure things will change. Usually it’s the F2P stuff that changes. Right now, there are only timers on the loose crates, but there is a “condition meter” for your vehicle. It doesn’t really change much after races unless you lose. Other than that, there is just a random “card” system for unlocking vehicles and upgrades.
Regardless, I’ve been having a blast playing Hot Slide. It’s only available in a handful of countries. SG, CZ, SK, HK, AU, and TW App Stores. If you live in any of these areas or “live” in and of these areas and are a fan of racing games, definitely give Hot Slide a try!
