(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really a full fledged game review as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a certain game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know whether it’s worth your time/money or not.)

“The winds of change are in the air. Can you smell it?”

So, back in March a little game squeaked out by the name of, Sigi: A Fart for Melusina (by replay). Unlike what you would think by the title, this game doesn’t stink. Alright, alright, I’m done.

All fart jokes aside, Sigi is a side scrolling platformer very much like Ghosts n’ Goblins. The story goes that the Princess Melusina has been kidnapped by an evil entity……….That’s pretty much it. The old “save the princess” scenario.

Where Sigi really shines is the gameplay. You play as the gassy knight, Sigi and your job is to fight your way through each level with your trusty sword. You’ll be up against a host of enemies ranging from zombies, to……Hulk Hogan?? Yes, there is a boss that looks VERY similar to the Hulkster himself.

You will collect coins and try to spell out S-I-G-I in each level in order to get a high score. There are also secret areas with treasures to find. Some of the levels can get a little tricky, but nothing that’s going to force you to rage quit. There are also power-ups to help you along the way.

Sigi: A Fart for Melusina is a really solid platformer. Yes, it borrows a lot from the old Ghosts n’ Goblins games, but that’s not really a bad thing. My biggest issue was that it felt like it needed a little bit more. Maybe a little upgrade system or the ability to buy new weapons or armor. That’s not really a strike against the game, it’s just something I wish it had. Sigi is just a good, old fashioned platformer with beautiful pixel fart…..I mean art. With a “Lite” Version out now, there’s no reason why any fan of the genre shouldn’t be at least trying this game out. (Psst! It’s worth it for the fart jokes!)
