**bleep**bleep** Another game just popped up on the SNAPP Radar this week. **bleep**bloop** (By the way, that’s supposed to be radar sounds.)
Uh oh. It looks like indie developer, Matthew Barrie is at it again. Last time him and his father brought us the awesome skateboarding game, Board 2 Death. This time he’s changed things up a bit with his new game, Squashy Bug.
MBAR Games does a great job with making games that have the whole “just one more try” vibe going on. I’ve been playing the final version of Squashy Bug off and on for the past week or so and although I’m not that great at it, I always find myself going back to it for another run.
The game has you playing as a bug. An ant to be exact. (You can unlock other bugs like a slug, caterpillar, ladybug, etc. via IAPs or simply by watching videos.) Your job is to collect pennies that drop on the sidewalk and carry them to your little home/hole in the ground. Of course it wouldn’t be fun if that was just it. There’s gotta be some sort of challenge right? Well, try to do it while dodging a busy sidewalk full of pedestrians. So, while you’re trying to run around and collect coins, you have to watch out for gigantic feet that are ready to squash you. (The trick is to watch for the shadows.) Honestly, it can get tough! I think my high score is 5 right now.
Squashy Bug is a simple high score chaser with a ton of charm. These are the games that really seem to do well on the App Store. Even with the horrible high score of 5 right now, I’ve still been having a lot of fun with it. Keep your eye out for this one when it releases later this month on April 27th.
