Week Ending 05/08/16

Well, It’s that time of the week again. Time for some Coffee & Swiping. Here is some of the news from last week in the iOS Gaming World.

(In no particular order.)

Last week was “May The 4th Be With You“, so there were sales and updates to just about every Star Wars game on the App Store. I  was hoping for a surprise release of Knights of the Old Republic 2, but it didn’t seem to happen, but if you’re a big Star Wars fan like me, there was plenty going on last week to keep you occupied.

After a 3 year hyatas, Rockstar Games updates Pax Payne with 64 bit support and expanded retina screen support.
Chinatown Wars was updated with the same thing. Also, Rockstar put every one of their titles on sale which is pretty rare. Could this mean something big is coming to the App Store from them?? My guess is probably no, but it’s fun to speculate.

Joan Mad Run releases after years since Happymagenta first let out information about it. We had a small spinoff game, John Mad Run that released in between the times, but I’m glad Joan is finally out. I hope it does well for the development team.

Noodlecake released a HUGE 2.0 update for their clicker game, Mucho Taco. I’m not sure of the the whole clicker fad, but Mucho Taco is my favorite out of all of them.

Mika Mobile announced that the Story Mode for their new game, Lost Frontier was finished and will be submitted to Apple sometime this month. I’m definitely looking forward to this one. I absolutely loved Battleheart and especially the sequel.

Uncharted makes a debut on mobile with Uncharted: Fortune Hunter. I’ve only played a little of it, but it’s a decent puzzle style game and it’ll connect to your Uncharted 4 game when it releases to unlock rewards and “game-changing” costumes. (I’m wanting to say there was another Uncharted mobile game awhile back with coins or  cards or something? I’m not sure. Maybe I’m thinking the PSVITA.)

Super Arc Light got a really good update with new modes, weapons, and enemies. I really liked this game. It did feel like it needed a little more when I played, so this may be the answer to that. I haven’t had a chance to check it out yet.

Blue Wizard Digital announced their debut game, Slayaway Camp and it looks awesome. Yea, it has the voxel graphics that everybody is starting to use after Crossy Road hit it big, but I don’t have a problem with that. It’s a puzzle game set in an 80’s horror movie theme. I grew up watching these kinds of movies, so I personally cannot wait for it to release this Fall.

Oh, I almost forgot. The beautiful, Maestria went on sale for free this week. I’m not sure if there’s a reasoning behind it besides just to get the game in as many hands as possible, but definitely pick this one up!

Well, that’s about it for this week’s Coffee & Swiping. I know it’s a little short, but this week was a little crazy with all the Star Wars stuff going on. There were a bunch of great releases this week also. I’m still working on a few of them, but here are some of my favorites so far….

Thumb Space
Brake or Break
Cruise Control
Joan Mad Run
Never Gone
Uncharted: Fortune Hunter and Hungry Shark World, although both are not indie games or overlooked in any way, they are both solid titles that are worth checking out.
(There’s also still a bunch more I’m working on.)
