The fun thing about SNAPPZILLA is that we are always trying out new things. This is something we call “Coffee & Swiping” where every Monday Morning we will recap some of last week’s news in the world of mobile gaming. So sit back, pour a cup, and let’s do this thing.
The week ending May 1st:
Shiro Games announces that Evoland 2 will not be coming to iOS or Android due to “the complexity of its gameplay and length of the game”. (Bummer. I really liked the first one.)
Apple releases sales and profit numbers for last quarter and shows that both suffered a loss. This would be the first time Apple has been in the red since 2003. To put it this way, in 2003, the iPhone wasn’t even out yet and the iTunes Music Store was just a rumor.
Mediocre Games changed the name of their game, Dirac to Beyondium. Not sure if that’s news, but it’s interesting to say the least.
Robbery Bob 2 by Level 8/Chillingo went free to play after a year. Level 8 released a pretty funny little video claiming they were “forced” to go F2P due to overwhelming demand.
Creative Mobile announces a spinoff of the Nitro Nation series with a collaboration with the rapper, Fetty Wap called, Fetty Wap: Nitro Nation Stories. I’m not sure if it will be a game all in its own or an update for the already released Nitro Nation Stories. I guess we’ll find out on May 3rd.
Foursaken Media soft launched Adventure Company just days after War Tortoise releases and surprise! The game is good.
Hutch released a really good update for their soft launched game, MMX HillClimb. The game is definitely taking shape now.
Dragon Hills by Rebel Twins was Apple’s Free App of the Week.
Zen Studios released the Aliens (movie) themed pinball tables for Zen Pinball.
There were also some really good games that released last week. Here are just a few of my favorites so far.
War Tortoise by Foursaken Media
Highriser by Dan Allsop
Egz: The Origin of the Universe by E.R.
Runaway Toad by Last Chance Media
Well, that’s about it for this week. I’ll see you guys next Monday for another Coffee & Swiping.
